MS office - asking to sign in

Hi All,

 

I am using windows 10 pro laptop at home, using Microsoft Office 2016 and 2019 pro. I recently formatted the laptop and installed Office 2019. When I click on Microsoft Word it directs me to the web to sign in for some reason. This never happened before. Then I uninstalled office 2019 and installed 2016. The same thing happens. If I click on a saved word document, that opens fine. The laptop was previously on a network but has been taken off and is logging in using a local account. Could this be the issue?

Are you using the pre-populated start menu links similar to the below?

 

 

These seem to default to the web version (why charge once when you can keep charging monthly?).

 

Try scrolling down the alphabetical links and launching from there.
