JATSO Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Hi All, Does anyone have a rough guide or links on how to set up a Synology Nas in a school with smoothwall. The Nas is currently unable to connect to the Synology package update centre. I presume its something to do with our Smoothwall device on premises, I have checked the date and time settings they are correct. TIA
Davit2005 Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Personally I'd keep it off line if possible. You can always manually import if necessary and it will get around any proxy issues/fw/filter issues. 1
mrwoberts Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Can you whitelist these urls, only for the source IP of the NAS? *.synology.com *.synologydownload.com 1
JATSO Posted June 28, 2023 Author Posted June 28, 2023 (edited) I downloaded the package's needed. Ran my first Activebackup for Google Workspace last night, pretty impressed with this box. If anyone has further tips or advice that would be great. Edited June 28, 2023 by JATSO 1

I know the CPU are nearly always behind competitors, Synology upgrades i.e. RAM are expensive, there have been issues with PSUs and CPUs in the past but the packages jus seem to make up for it. I'm on my 4th at home now and when selling I've not lost a lot Edited June 28, 2023 by Davit2005

I'm on my 4th at home now and when selling I've not lost a lot I noticed that with my home device the Ds220j, so slow because the of 512mb fixed RAM. Looking to change it as I wanted to keep my RAW images on it, but the indexing is so slow its just used as a backup location now, I keep a working copy of my RAW files on a USB3 desktop drive and copy that to the NAS. I will look at the specs a lot closer next time. 1
