I re-watched the series again after re-reading the trilogy and I would say the shows writers have made a very good job.

 

Totally agree. I think it's a good rework of a tricky novel in terms of story telling.

I'm pretty sure that the GoT end was what GRRM was leading up to, though. Now he has even less incentive to knuckle down to writing as lots of people were very vocal about their dislike of it.
