Xerox c316 MFP printer to scan to email

I have setup a Xerox c316 MFP printer to scan to email. Every time I try, I get an error / Scan Log message:

Primary SMTP Gateway : SMTP.Gmail.com

Connection Failure : <530>

Connection Error

Mail server response:: 530-5.7.0 Authentication Required.

 

Google says that the error list says 530, "5.7.0", Must issue a STARTTLS command first.

 

I have put all the setting correct ( well I think I have) in the email setting in the web interface. I have tested the SMPT setting and it say all is OK. But, it's not, as stated by the error message / scan log above.
