Account lockout not in effect when presenting

Hi All,

 

Just wondered if anyone has come across this...

 

When a user leaves a PowerPoint open in 'full screen' mode on their machine, it appears that this renders the lockout policy set via GPO inactive. I understand that this is likely to be to prevent users from locking out during an actual presentation, but we all know what people are like for leaving their machines open when away from their desk!

 

Done a little research, but nothing seems forthcoming on this, sadly. Has anyone found a way around this, or even come across it before?

I think this is by design. When you are presenting, the computer is "in use" as a full-screen application is in operation, it won't lock the screen for the reasons you've mentioned.

 

I've not come across a staff member leaving a presentation in Present Mode... the answer is information and education, because technical solutions will be too imposing. The staff member(s) should be pulled up on it and re-educated in GDPR/security. What we do here is if we find a computer unattended / unlocked for whatever reason, it gets reported. They soon stop.

It's worth noting that playing a video in WMP (even if minimized) will do the same thing.
