jslate1980 Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 Hi Currently looking at swapping our AV and looking at better integration to Microsoft 365 other than just endpoint. Is anyone here purchasing the A5 security add on. Do you license all staff and students?
jslate1980 Posted May 19, 2023 Author Posted May 19, 2023 Just worked out the costs and as you have to pay for student licenses it would be out of our price range anyway.
jslate1980 Posted May 19, 2023 Author Posted May 19, 2023 Yeah, going to order it next week and gives me 4-5 weeks to sort. Thanks for your input.
kevin_lane Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Yeah, going to order it next week and gives me 4-5 weeks to sort. Thanks for your input. How does the licensing work out, is it per user or per device ? What versions have you gone for x advance or x advance with xdr ?? Roughly how much will it cost you ?
ConceroEdu_Matt Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 A5 Student Use Benefits are free, you get 40 free per faculty licence. It's our default recommendation to schools, and many use it. It's easier to administer and as you say, allows that deeper integration with 365, azure and in particular Defender

HPlum78 Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 No that's right no home use benefits for Defender/ security for students on *5 agreements. 1

I was told the same by another provider, i.e. Defender for Endpoint is not included in the A5 security (or full A5) Student use benefit, it has to be added on, there are apparently options to price per user or device. 1

I did look at per device but the cost was well above the budget I had available.
