Hi all,

My client has been using Activinspire as their main software for their classes.

We are now looking to replace their IWBs. My question is ActivInspire compatible with all brands of IWBs? or is the software specific to Promethean boards. Main concern are the IWB pens and if they will function on that software.

Many thanks

Hi,

I can confirm that ActivInspire will work on BenQ interactive displays (licence permitting), you need to tweak a setting to "full touch" in the preferences. The BenQ interactive displays come with pens, but you can continue to use your existing pens.

We also have our own whiteboard software called EZWrite 6 which is built in to latest interactive displays and available on PC, Mac and browser. There is no cost for this software it will open .iwb & .notebook files, you should also be able to export from ActivInspire as an .iwb file.

If you have any questions or would like to know more just let me know.

Thank you for your reply Chris that was really helpful.

Just on the top of your head, do you have knowledge if ActivInspire will work on any other IWB displays? Or do you only have experience on BenQ.

Many thanks

From a technical point of view it will work on almost any display as it is simply software on the PC which can be controlled either by mouse or keyboard or in this case by a touch screen.

The licencing is the issue as when you remove your promethean boards you also remove your entitlement to use activinspire in that classroom. You may be able to buy activinspire licences for use with each third party board separately and then you would be legally compliant.

Hi,

I can only officially speak for BenQ, however @PotNoodleTech is correct; in principle it would work on any interactive device that utilise standard Windows HID drivers. The issue is one of licensing.

Promethean (as with SMART) do have their own drivers that enable things like auto pen recognition and some gesture controls, these are unlikely to work when using standard Windows HID drivers and may not work on 3rd party hardware.

If you have any other questions please let me know.
