At the rescue this morning we had a cardboard box with a baby rabbit handed over. The receptionist asked for an admission form to be completed and the staff cleared the decks to deal with it in the admissions area.

 

By the time they opened the box, the person who brought it in was long gone…

The new legislation will safeguard thousands of jobs in Cornwall

 

The cream-first cream tea practice has been banned by the Government. New legislation rushed through Parliament now bans what residents of Cornwall have been asking for for generations and could put an end to the heathen 'Devon way'.

 

The move has been welcomed by Cornwall’s six Members of Parliament. The legislation ensures that anybody who puts cream on a scone first followed by jam will now face a hefty fine.

 

A spokesperson for the Government said: "We are taking advantage of our Brexit freedoms to streamline food practices and ensuring that only correctly presented food items are available in the UK. The abolition of cream first and the top crimp will finally teach people in Devon a lesson for stealing the pasty and the cream tea from Cornwall in the first place."

 

The 'cream first' ban comes as statistics show that the number of people incorrectly eating cream teas has been on the rise, with over 16 people injured by scones served the wrong way during the past year. The new legislation also makes it illegal to crimp a pasty on the top and will ensure that all pasties sold in the UK are semi-circular and side-crimped along the curve.

 

In a joint unified and dignified statement, all six Cornwall's MPs said: "We are delighted to welcome this important legislation. For too long cream teas have been served the wrong way causing misery and leading to heated arguments online – the ban on cream first will safeguard the Cornish economy and our historical practice of making pasties and serving scones the right way."

 

The long-awaited ban on ‘cream first’ comes into force on April 1.
