We've just ordered a new UPS but it has come with the standard UK kettle lead "C13", our old UPS was a C19 port to IEC.

 

How do you plug your UPS in?... Is using a standard UK C13 kettle lead okay to use now?

C19 is an IEC standard plug, so not sure what you was using previously?

 

C19 is rated for 16 Amps, C13 is rated for 10. A C13 plug is fine if that's what the device is designed for.

The connectors really depend on the amount of current you're going to draw. A C13 indicates your UPS is likely smaller than the old one (in terms of current it can draw).

 

Ours are wired in with 16A blue/white IEC 60309 socket on one end, and hardwired in the other end, for example.

 

The desktop one I have for my workstation is a standard C13 though.

 

EDIT: Forgot to say - if you were using C19 on one end but normal 13A plug on the other previously, you end up with the same effect as simply using a C13 anyway. To take proper advantage of a C19, you'd need a 16A circuit to the cabinet.

What make and model of UPS is it? Generally UPS's up to 2200va roughly would come with a bog standard C13 kettle lead and the2200 - 3000 may come with C19 ones. Anything bigger would probably need hard wiring like the pair of 5000's I run.
