iOS16 and Wi-Fi password

Not an Apple fan at the best of times, but I'm now really cheesed off with them......

 

iOS 16 is very proud to tell everyone that you can now look up the Wi-Fi code of the network you're connected to just by clicking on it in the Wi-Fi settings! Articles about it are filled in the comments section with "At last" and similar". Why? I hate this! We only have 2 devices capable of running iOS16, but we give them to students occasionally and clearly don't want students knowing the Wi-Fi password is! Anyone know if there's a way of making it not visible please? We're planning on moving to a guest Wi-Fi with a landing page asking for AD credentials, but we're not there yet.

Few ideas off top of my head:

 

1) Check if your MDM can disable it

ii) Change your SSID to only allow certain MAC addresses ( i know you can spoof MACs but short term fix)

c) Main one, move away from single passworded SSIDs!

-) Temp SSID with guest portal

5) Don't upgrade to iOS 16 and block it.

Apple haven’t made a configuration setting to turn this off for all wireless networks (annoyingly!), but, if the devices is supervised via MDM then the wireless network can be configured through a configuration profile and I’m pretty sure that it then hides the PSK. But if you’ve manually joined it then it will show to users.

MDM provisioned WiFi networks don’t allow access to the password display feature.

Thanks all but we don't have an MDM as we have around a dozen iPads so never really saw the need. Is there a little free something? Will Apple's configurator thingy do it? Not played with that for about 8 years now.
