Bev Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 (edited) We have been using Matrep for our end of year reports - it's not fancy but it's very easy to use and we have been happy with it. I've just been informed that they are closing the site down, so I need to look at alternatives. Many years ago we used SIMS for this, with Marksheets, and excel spreadsheets and it was cumbersome, and slow. Also staff don't have access to SIMS directly (They use the Teacher app on iPads), so using SIMS isn't an option. Any other suggestions? We are a middle school, we give a teacher comment for approx 10 different subjects, with potentially a different teacher for each subject. Plus a score for behaviour, attitude to learning etc. We use Otrack for data and for a summary data report but we need something to facilitate the commenting. Edited March 7, 2023 by Bev
TechMonkey Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Slightly glib response but, get an MIS that works. Any modern, MIS will allow staff to write reports online from anywhere, without the addition of third party systems.
Bev Posted March 7, 2023 Author Posted March 7, 2023 I am sure that's true but it's easier said than done.
TechMonkey Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 But as one wise man said, if the journey is never started, it will never complete. Getting a replacement for MatRep will plaster over the issue and kick the can down the road. Starting the process of migrating from SIMS will solve the issue, more than likely save money, and more than likely solve a whole heap of other issues.
londonbg Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 We are very sad that Matrep have announced they are shutting down. It's a great example of a system that does one job really well as opposed to being a jack of all trades / master of none. It's much better than what our MIS (engage) offers and WAY better than using Sims. I support multiple schools (not all of which have a useful MIS) so I need to find a Matrep equivalent ASAP for a couple of them.
