Alastairb25 Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Hi All, Anyone come across a similar issue to this Sophos Cloud Client Deployed Starts blocking any https sites Neverssl.com still works http://www.sophos.com still works Pings to local and 8.8.8.8 work Taking off network and using a tethered phone same issue - To disprove ISP issues Initially fixed via Policy \ Endpoint protection \ Web Control and set to be disabled Any soon as remove Sophos fine Seems to randomly affect existing PC and all new build Bought via Local Council so support minimal Sophos won`t help without account details, which we do not have as bought via Council and supported by them Thanks
free780 Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Do you have the isolation feature enabled ? This won’t block ping but will block most other traffic. A device can get isolated if the update process for the client had a delay. 1
KimFrith Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 It's good to hear that you were able to fix the issue by disabling the Web Control in the Policy \ Endpoint protection settings, but you mentioned that the problem seems to affect existing PCs and new builds randomly. It's unfortunate that support is minimal since you bought it through the Local Council, but have you tried contacting Sophos support directly? They might be able to provide more assistance with troubleshooting the issue. Additionally, have you tried checking the logs to see if there are any specific errors or messages that could point to the root cause of the problem? In the meantime, if disabling Web Control isn't a long-term solution for you, you could try tweaking the settings to see if there's a specific configuration that's causing the problem. It's possible that some combination of settings is causing the issue.

Additionally, I read free essays and have to ask have you tried checking the logs to see if there are any specific errors or messages that could point to the root cause of the problem? In the meantime, if disabling Web Control isn't a long-term solution for you, you could try tweaking the settings to see if there's a specific configuration that's causing the problem. It's possible that some combination of settings is causing the issue. Actually, I just remembered that there's another potential solution that you could try. If you haven't already, you could try performing a clean reinstall of the Endpoint protection software on the affected machines. Sometimes, issues like the one you're experiencing can be caused by corrupted installation files or conflicting software on the machines. Before doing so, make sure to backup any important files or data on the machines, and consider temporarily disabling the Web Control feature during the reinstall process to see if that makes a difference.I hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Phxntom16 Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 I think we had this issue with Sophos once or twice.. but we moved away from it a few months ago. Going to Sophos was the worst decision we made.. particularly on our Macs. It was always eating away at the RAM, and often crashed randomly and slowed down the machines.
