2097 Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 We are just starting to use Teams/Sharepoint properly. I set this up ages ago , but basically each user ( Staff ) has access to write to their onedrive and the main sharepoint "Teams" site . I have had a member of staff ask how they can setup a private group or Team and send files only to that "Team" Google seems to think they should be able to see the "Teams" they are a member of in office when they goto save-as within office , but all our accounts cannot see any "Teams" only onedrive and the main sharepoint site. Am i missing something totally obvious here ? or have i changed something deep in sharepoint teams so these dont show up ?
Steve21 Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 When you click on the main sharepoint site as you call it it should bring up a list of frequently used sites, but it doesn’t show the whole lot normally (unless you’re talking in the web based versions under the “more places” Steve
Dan2025 Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 On mine under save as sites, I have all the sites I have access to including my own teams group which I don't use for file storage. Was going to say it only shows sites I've created but our old unused SP page is there and that was made years before I started.
2097 Posted February 1, 2023 Author Posted February 1, 2023 This is all i have , im a member of every team site.
Dan2025 Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 This is all i have , im a member of every team site. Hmm, I have had a play using the 365 apps version of office. Creating a new team, adding myself as a member to an existing one & following a new SP site. None have appeared as of yet. I did just log into a second machine on 2016 and this had a different way of showing it similar to your screenshot but was showing weeks worth of 'recent access'

I have installed office365 on another machine as unsure if it was my 2021 version of office. Out of interest , does Teams need to be installed on the machine for "Teams" to show up ? or si it all basically done via sharepoint so no need ?
Dan2025 Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Teams shouldn't need to be installed, It does seem to be an issue that's been around a while though. Even though I'm following new sites, it hasn't updated and I can't see a way to force it to update.
2097 Posted February 2, 2023 Author Posted February 2, 2023 I have looked through sharepoint to see any differences between them ( The main sharepoint team site ( that i can see ) and all the teams that im a member of sites ) The only difference is , A Team site uses a office365 group for membership . Where the main sharepoint site is using AD/Azure groups for membership. Could anyone verify this for me ?
2097 Posted February 9, 2023 Author Posted February 9, 2023 Seems i was a little bit too speedy with Teams. Seems my office 2021 version does not pick them up at all. But ! my 365 on a Intune laptop does pick them up once "Followed" Any one know of a good script to make all users follow teams they are a member of . Would save a lot of hassle !
