JamesParker Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 (edited) We had an external service managing our IPads, when the service ended we did not renew A3 so we lost endpoint management We knew we would not be able to manage the IPads so asked the external service to remove them all and leave them unlocked sadly several are still trying to pull a setup from our domain then they just fail and i can’t see them to remove them thanks iOS/iPadOS | iOS/iPadOS devices I used to see a list of devices in the above locationipad.bmp Edited February 1, 2023 by JamesParker
kidpressingbuttons Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Id check your apple school manager to ensure the MDM has been deleted as it will still try and point devices at that MDM after wiping.
steveg Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 As said above, If the link to an MDM is removed in your apple school manager a reset of the ipad should set it free.
Katy Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 If they are trying to configure remote management as a step you can't skip after doing a factory reset on them, then this means they are still in Apple School Manager pointing at Intune. You'd need to make sure that the Intune MDM is removed from within Apple School Manager.
Brimstone Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE MDM FROM ASM... Have you revoked the VPP token from Intune first so any paid for apps come back to your ASM instance? Then do the following.... [h=2]Assign, reassign or unassign devices[/h] In Apple School Manager , sign in as a user that has the role of Administrator, Site Manager or Device Enrolment Manager. Click Devices in the sidebar, search for a device in the search field, then select the device from the list. See How to search. After you have searched for the devices, select the total number of devices at the top of the list, then click Edit next to Edit MDM Server . Do one of the following: Choose “Assign to server”, then choose the MDM server you want to assign or reassign the device to. Choose Unassign to unassign the device from an MDM server. Note: If you select a device that is unassigned, you will not see the unassigned option. 1
