OK, pretty simple question but I am failing to find a solution here. How do you change the volume of the alarm on an IPhone? I read somewhere it says go to sounds>and modify the alarm option, but I don't see this. Then I read somewhere that to change the volume of the alarm you need to change the ringer volume. If this is a morning alarm, then you need to remember to turn the volume back up again. There must be something basic I'm missing here so can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I got round this by finding a suitably gentle piece of music to wake up to instead of one of the standard alarm tones.

I can recommend Dire Straits “Ride across the river” for not scaring you out of bed in the morning

Yeah, I think I did that too but not music, I had a Nokia phone for many years and when I switched to an iPhone and needed an alarm I found the Nokia alarm tone and used that. Of course that annoyed me as being Apple you needed to get the audio into the iPhone which meant going through adding it via iTunes on a computer...

This was my go to alarm (Nokia - Dawning):

Luckily (?) I haven't needed an alarm for a long time now as we have Greyhounds who have their own particular brand of 'whining alarm' starting about 05:30 - 06:00....

But I don't have that. I only have Ringtone....

There is no alert volume option I can see. Running IOS 16.2

That changes the volume for all tones - not just the alarm

Yes, this is the issue. They have changed the alarm now so it is a little more subtle, but I still think this is such a basic thing that I can't help wonder why I can't set it.

Quick update: I think I've found a way to do it.

You need to use the iOS "Health" app to setup a sleep schedule/alarm.

There's a slider there to adjust the volume of the alarm. I've 'tested' this by going back & forth between Music & checking the ringer. The volume within Health remains independent (at least in my experience).

Does this suggestion work for you?

This might do exactly what I need. Seems a bit of a faff to get to put an alarm in place, but if it works I'll take it. As this is not my phone I'll need to check if it is still needed - for now they are using audio which starts off low.
