IKWeb Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Hello All Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year. I have a question. I run Mobility Print at a few schools for Apple devices, and others to print. Mobility Print allows you to download a config file that you can run on an iPad and it will import the settings and allow printing. I think off the top of my head it's a .mobileconfig file. When I try and pull this into intune (to mass deploy) intune doesn't like the text within the file - it thinks it's not structured correctly and won't allow it to be imported. Is anyone else out there who uses Mobility Print and Intune - and if so - how have you pushed out printers from Mobility Print? TIA
PaperCutterBrenda Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Hi there IKWeb, PaperCutter Brenda here. I chatted with our techie team folk, and they said you should be able to skip our mobileconfig file entirely and just create an AirPrint profile in Intune itself.https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/configuration/device-features-configurehttps://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/configuration/ios-device-features-settings There are four pieces of info it needs: IP address, path, port, and whether TLS is enabled. For a Mobility Print queue, IP is that of the MP server, path is /printers/printerName where printerName is literally the name of the printer, port is 9164, and TLS should be enabled. I hope that helps! If not, you can always chat our support crew directly at [email protected] for more knowledge. 2
IKWeb Posted January 4, 2023 Author Posted January 4, 2023 Hi Brenda Thank you for the update - I actually worked this out this morning :-) - But none the less thank you for the update to confirm this is the correct way forward with Mobility Print. Would be nice if the dev team at PC can add a bit of text on the section where you download the .mobileconfig file and say if you are using a system like Intune - don't use the config file and a link to the tech doc you post above. May save others some wasted time of wondering why its not working :-) Thanks again
PaperCutterBrenda Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 That's great to hear, and we appreciate the feedback. I'll pass it on to the team! Thanks again and take care.
