Classroom On-Call app options, NetSupport Alternatives

Hi All: I'm totally new here and desperate to find a solution. For a number of years (before I joined IT) my school had an in-house application installed on all teacher PCs so they could quickly hop on and send out an emergency message for first aid/ discipline issues to pop up on desktops of relevant staff around the school. This app is now unusable, and staff have nor been very keen to use phones, email, Teams, other. Does anyone have any suggestions? Preferably freeware/open source?

I think you should push back, as deploying an instant-messaging system is purely replicating a function that software your site is already using (e.g. Teams.)

Could you direct them to use the 'Urgent' feature in Teams Chat, with a guide & screenshots?

Thanks for your response and I'll look at that, but as simple as Teams is, I was trying to find something even simpler, idiot-proof if you like i.e. The Original On-Screen Panic Button Software | Little Green
