Anyone had Microsoft Store app (new) enabled on their tenant yet?

so it still has the same limitations that you cannot apply a transform (or other modification) with the installation. So for Adobe reader DC we are still downloading, repackaging with an MST and kludgy batch file before uploading as a W32 app. There are probably a few apps that require the odd switch of setting that dont necessarily exist as a simply custom intune policy. winget is yet another tool written since they decided to forget two decades of knowledge around how their ecosystem works. It should have been written in dotnet and it should expose its interfaces to powershell to be scriptable. Yet it is not and does not. Its automatable if your idea of automation are clever .bat files.

 

It's almost like it was written by a team of uninspired 1990's era windows administrator lead by someone who uses linux in the bedroom because it's so much better than M$ Wind0w$

 

I am quite grumpy about the about of regressions in functionality I am seeing at the moment.

They're working on powershell support, but the theory is a package manager shouldn't depend on a load of things already being installed, eg boot.wim doesn't have powershell

I shared a blog post somewhere by a person leading this effort to expose the package manager api to other windows components but I can't find it anywhere now. The inference was that the team that built v1.0, by ignoring some fundamental windows coding paradigms and instead adopting some store-app based coding patterns, made it extremely difficult to open up the api to the rest of windows.
