JordanT91 Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 I came in this morning to find our Ruckus wireless network is down. Nothing is being broadcast at all. The ZD1200 is not reachable over the LAN, but it has lights on and appears physically fine. I have tried power cycling it but no joy. I do not have a console cable. Any ideas?
Dos_Box Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 By nothing being broadcast, do you mean you have no wifi signal at all, or that you can connect, but no traffic is being routed?
Net-Ctrl Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 Hi @JordanT91 sorry to hear you're having issues - could be worth checking to see the ZD hasn't reverted to its default IP. To test it - plug in a laptop and set the laptop to 192.168.0.10 and try pinging 192.168.0.2 (default IP) and see if you get a response. If you do it should allow you to login via the browser where you can correct the IP.

JordanT91 Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 Unfortunately it looks like it's died. It's got the 2 solid green lights that's mentioned here.
Net-Ctrl Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 Not what you want on a Monday morning - if you have availability we could run a short remote session just to see if there is anything we can do to recover the ZD and confirm whether it is more likely to be memory failure.

Thank you for the offer. I'm currently remoting into some APs to get them switched over to unleashed to allow some sort of wireless access in the short term. I might take you up on your offer to try to recover the ZD soon though.
Net-Ctrl Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 Great - no problem. If you need any advice on supported Unleashed FW for your AP models, or would like to run the session on your ZD, please let me know and will do what we can.

Dealing with exactly this issue this morning. ZD1200 with Power & Status stuck at green and no WiFi. Just finished converting the last of the APs to unleashed as a stop gap while arranging some Unifi kit to replace. You will find that the ZD1200 will be covered by warranty and RUCKUS will swap it out, if you want to stay with Ruckus...

We got ours in August 2015.

I've started a RMA to get a replacement, but do you think there's a chance I can get the config from the dead one before I send it off? I don't think I ever took a backup. Also, do you know how the licenses work? Would the new ZD come with the licences applied or would I have to request they be migrated? Thanks!
Net-Ctrl Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Great! If you need any support with the RMA let me know. Unfortunately, once the ZD is down I don't think you can pull the config. Regarding licenses, Ruckus will re-allocate all associated licenses during the RMA so there isn't anything you will need to do.
JordanT91 Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 For anyone following, a new ZD1200 is getting here on Monday, so a 6 day turnaround for an out-of-support RMA! 2
