Hi all

Have 2 users whose outlook just does not want to connect. get below error

"We are unable to connect right now, please check network and try again later"

For that users, have done full windows updates, dns flush, updated office, but no joy.

Works fine when on outlook.com website just not via outlook

the exact error is shown in this site

https://supertekboy.com/2022/05/14/office-activations-fails-we-are-unable-to-connect-right-now/

anyone seen this?

only issue for 2 users, many others use it and works fine for them. whats weird is randomly on some days it works and then goes again!

We had an issue with Outlook when a user changed their password

Outlook would ask for the users new password, they would enter the new details and then get a similar error

We found that after a few days it would just suddenly work and be fine

I would ask if the users have recently changed their password

they have changed password and it has gone through ok, changed it within outlook. Been like this for few weeks now

Have you deleted the profile from Control panel in advanced?

Yep i even tried logging in myself and tried setting up my outlook but had same thing, so seems liek something with machine than User profile.

The internet icon is also a globe icon than the 2 monitors. PC thinks there is no internet but there is internet.

Re-image then,

If you’ve tried everything else and still no luck.

Could try a winsock reset or to reset the TCP/IP settings? I’ve had that work before to fix Outlook issues.

netsh winsock reset

netsh int ip reset

Is there an on-prem server anywhere? Is it possible they are one of the remaining users with access to a mailbox on the server, and has the server (perhaps) had its certificate expire?

That's the issue, nothing to do with outlook

It's a service called NCSI and if it thinks you dont have internet access, apps that respect the crap it spews out will not even try to connect

You will find a million suspected causes of it, everything from NIC drivers to a few registry keys. I guess the good news here is if it's consistently not working you should be able to determine what fixes it by trial-and-error
