Wingz Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 New computer, new install of Office 2016. Open Outlook, get the prompts to add a user/profile, then goes into the add user mode. Auto recognizes the user, and starts setting up the mail user. Outlook shuts down. Try to open it again, and it says bad profile. So, went into CTRL Panel, mail, and deleted the profile. I have checked all the documented issues re proxy and redirect, and neither applies. I have done a repair on it 3 times. I have verified there are not O365 remnants left in Control Panel. Any other suggestions?
Dan2025 Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Obvious one but just in case, done the office updates? I've had it on some fresh builds where it hasn't pulled down the updates when I'm checking so I assume it's good to go. Week later, teachers back.. handful of machines get outlook error when they log on for the first time.
rossibIT Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Have you tried deleting the profile off the server? I just rename to Old so if there are any hiccups after you can relate back to that profile. Something in Outlook is not liked when your trying to login with the same profile as before. So if you delete the profile on the server where you store them, it should do the trick.
chaplic Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Create a profile without a mail account then ctrl+ right click outlook icon in bottom right and select test autoconfiguraiton. Untick guesssmart boxes and fill in the rest. Does this return you server details (many steps may fail by design so don't get too carried away)
Wingz Posted September 9, 2022 Author Posted September 9, 2022 What do you mean deleting the profile off the server? On the PC, I even tried removing the user account, folders, profilelist name, etc, rebooting, and than adding it back in. Still the same result. I logged in as another user, and outlook works fine, so its something with this user directly I guess, and since I did a remove and re-add, are you thinking its the AD user profile (delete the user entirely, they are new so it wont hurt anything), or the Exchange profile (Exchange 2016 at the moment).
