Assembly / Event setup

Just a quick how do you do it question...

 

Assemblies / Event setups.... do you / your team attend the start of assemblies to switch projectors on / switch laptops on / test mics etc or do you let the member(s) of staff to be more self contained?

 

Over the past few years I've got pretty much all of our assembly areas to be literally be press 2 buttons and you're good to go. We do get staff who insist that someone is 'on hand' (teacher speak for pressing the on button a projector remote) during the assembly / event but this year I'm really going to endeavour to take a step back from having a member of the team just stood around for 10 mins to appease a member of staff.

 

Is this unreasonable?? How do you guys do it?

I will always be there at the beginning and to setup, to ensure all is working.

 

You can almost guarentee (unless you have a locked cabinet) that someone will have tampered with something. So I always check the correct inputs are selected, volume levels, Mic battery status, etc.

 

We used to keep getting staff breaking cables so I now have staff connect to a bluetooth audio connection so they can play directly from their phones or laptop and be anywhere accross the hall.

Depends how many staff the IT department has, if they add an extra person, to be the AV person too, fine.
