How can I forward an email from Google to Office 365 when both domains are the same?

So the head really wants to view her emails in outlook, not Gmail. Both Google and Office 365 were setup using the school's free default domain. So forwarding from Google - [email protected] to Outlook365 - [email protected] is not going to be possible, as the MX record is active for just one domain.Would adding another domain work? not really something I want to do for just one user to look at their emails but hahoAny other ways? You would need to add Office 365 as a new host in Gmail: "Admin > Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail > Hosts".

You can then use that in a rule in "Admin > Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail > Routing > Routing".

From experience - avoid! A new head wanted this and as we were a GSuite school we said not an option and had executive agreed with us. Head went ahead and tried some third party tool that was disastrous. Loads of teaches moaning the new head never replies. Lots of parents complaining about no responses. Head in a complete tizzy as he could not track any of his emails. Head even wanted to ditch our cloud based MIS to SIMS just because he didn't want to learn a new system. He didn't retain employment even a full year.

If you do go ahead, test, test, test and test again before making any permanent changes.

Yup, that all sounds like sensible advice, tbh. Using the Google account in Outlook desktop app via Oauth is proba about as far as I'd want to allow, but even then, you end up with calendar invites going all over the place.

Your heads O365 account will also have a @tennantname.onmicrosoft.com address so use that as the forwarding address in Gmail

Or setup a “migration” from Gmail to O365 for one account and run the sync often.

Or just configure outlook with Imap and take care to configure imap against gmail labels

We also backup the staff emails. Don't think that would work if they were being replied to from a different system.

Yep, and I think quite a few other scenarios that for my mental health I'm not going to try to remember :D

Tell them it's possible, but it'll take extra work, so you'll be available for £100/hour outside working hours to implement it, should only take 10-20 hours.
