Smoothwall: Youtube blocked as expected if you type in www.youtube.com but if you click on a youtube video from websearch it allows you in. Having spoken extensively with smoothwall 2nd line support they believe it's a caching issue as if you clear cache, it blocks from websearch, until you refresh and then it's back in your cache and working! It works fine in edge so an issue between chrome and smoothwall.

  1. Has anyone come across this issue with smoothwall? If so did you manage to fix it?
  2. Smoothwall support want us to completely disable caching in chrome, but we can't find a way of actually doing this. We've tried hacks such as changing the cache location to something that doesn't exist and changing the max cache to 1mb.

I have a call logged with them atm as Twitter isn't filtering properly we have certain feeds allowed school feeds etc. If a student follows this to Twitter and then search's it lets them go away from the approved feeds to anything. When the engineer called about this he mentioned there's a similar issue with YouTube and both issues needed to go to developers.

Not much help but worth asking if it's the same YouTube issue.
