markmdh Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Hi all Nothing seemed to come up in a search on this one, so I'm hoping someone can help! I've got a ProWise IWB that looks like it's failed to update properly. It seems to now be stuck in a loop where it boots, goes straight to "Downloading OTA File" then the screen goes white, followed by an "Installing Default Apps" and it just sits there. I told the staff to leave it, and it's been going for just over a week...However I can't guarantee it's not been rebooted or switched off in the meantime (I'm in other schools the rest of the week) I'm guessing the Android update needs the firmware file to boot from first? - if so is it easily available? This is my first school with Prowise's..Most have BenQ or SMART, so I'm in completely new territory here! All help greatfully received! Thanks Mark
DaveTheTech Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 First I have heard of them, so had a Google... One of the first pages I got was from Precedence - an old support company a previous employer used, blast from the past. Factory reset any good? Precedence Technologies Wiki - Support-KB-Prowise / AndroidReset
BenQ_Royce Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 have you tried their support? from our own boards I would cautious in bricking the unit at this point, as a short term fix can you get round the android system to use HDMI inputs?
slugshead Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 I'd reflash it with newer firmware, load it on a USB, stick it in and reboot and it automatically does the rest. You can get more options by using the code on the remote, i think there's a firmware roll back option in there too along with more diagnostics middle button, left ,right, up, down middle button
MancTech Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 We had a failed update on one of our screens recently stuck in that downloading OTA file loop as you said. If you press the settings cog button on your remote during the booting/upgrading process you can get the settings menu to popup then you can do the factory reset the usual way. Hope this helps.
markmdh Posted June 30, 2022 Author Posted June 30, 2022 Many thanks for the responses! - Apologies for the late reply..just been a tad busy! I'm not back in the school until Monday, so I'll look into those fixes and report back! Mark
