Hi all,

My journey into confusion continues this week, with trying to ascertain the role of "Results Set".

I have a results set for Spring, but I'm unsure as to what it is, and if it is indeed results for spring, how to extract them.

This is all geared towards use with SISRA.

Thanks for any advice. I've read the SIMS literature on result sets, but am non the wiser sadly.

AIUI a results set is the results of a set of aspects at a specific time. When entering assessment data you enter it for a specific time, and then you can get them out again for specific times, or compare times to see improvement rates.

Yeah that's right - you think of it as the aspect determining the 'what' e.g. Spanish Current Grade and the resultset determining the 'when' e.g. Year 9 Spring.

That certainly helps get my mind round it a wee bit. How does one change the result set? I have a Template with all the correct columns (aspects), but I cannot seem to amend the result set. At present, the result set is blank

EDIT: Double clicking the column to open up "Column Details" shows a result set selection space, but its greyed out.

Clone the template and then replace the result sets on the newly created template using the replace button to the right of the column list, this maintains the previous one and gives you a new one for the different data collection.

What do you mean by change? Edit student results? Change the aspects? Change the time periods?

How to change a marksheet to show results from a specific result set. I've managed to sort this however. Sorry for not being clearer

My thinking was that if I had a 21/22 Summer Set, and then I could create multiple marksheets based on the year, it wouldn't require as many templates (if that makes sense?)

Currently, every school year has a separate results set for each term... which may be preferable? I don't know enough to foresee pitfalls in the future, of which there are no doubt many, with my approach.

I though by pushing all years together into a academic year and term set I could more quickly push out marksheets for every year group.

I would strongly suggest that you don't want academic years in resultset names or aspect names, this commits you to creating new ones every year and will quickly become unmanageable. If you have a Y11 summer resultset it can be used for every Y11 group you have going forward.

The setup I have settled on after years of using assessment manager is the aspect being Subject and type of assessment and the resultset being the cohort and data collection.

As assessment manager is such an open tool I would recommend that you go on the training course before you make any major structural changes, it is important to understand the bigger picture so you don't get yourself stuck by going down the wrong path.
