Enabling Online Speech Recognition - Read, Write Gold

Hi all,

 

We are using Read, Write Gold for our exams for students that need it and they want to use the dictation part of read, write.

 

It says that I need to enable online speech recognition for it to work, though I have set this following this doc https://www.saintlad.com/enable-or-disable-online-speech-recognition-in-windows-10/

 

I have tried to do via the registry (preferences) and GPO, but when I run it on the student login it keeps asking for Online speech recognition to be enabled. I am stuck, anyway around this?

i would go with dragon, we had nothing but trouble with windows voice recognition. expensive but works great Edited June 16, 2022 by round2it

Thanks, they use Dragon at another school and it setup fine.

 

I am stuck with it at the moment whilst they are doing the exams. I just cannot get Read, Write to recognise Online Speech Recognition. I have tried all the registry entries etc. Everything seems in place, but it keeps saying To use Talk&Type please enable Online speech recognition.

 

This is a locked down student exam logging, so unfortunately can't just go to settings and enable it.

 

Running out of patience with it.
