Error 740 unable to install shared printer

Hello.

 

I have been having issues adding shared printers to computers in our school.

 

We have a Win server 2012 r2 and windows 10 pro machines. I get Error 740 which so far I managed to get by with using cmd in elevated prompt then using this command (rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /il)then add the printer via browsing to the server.

The strange thing is that we have 3 identical photocopiers in the school and I just cannot add one of them and of course that is what the user need the most.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try installing the printer driver first as admin, then reconnecting to the shared printer?

Thank you, that worked although this way it doesn't pick up the same setting that is set by the server.
