Download Adobe Reader 8.1.2 MSI Download the Security Update 1 MSI here A critical vulnerability has been identified in Adobe Reader and Acrobat 8.1.2. This vulnerability would cause the application to crash and could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system. Adobe recommends users of Acrobat 8 and Adobe Reader install the 8.1.2 Security Update 1 patch.

Michael Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 I'm not sure why it's failing. It has deployed fine on workstations which already had Adobe Reader 8.1.2. I did try it on a server which had 8.1.1 installed and it did fail (as it should).
markwilliamson2001 Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I cocked this up on my deploy (it was late friday night and I was knacked) so I added the msi to the GPO, then for some reason, I set it to update the 8.1.2 full adobe install (wot a n00b) so this morning, some pc's had cocked up, because it removed adobe 8.1.2, then tried to install the patch afterwards, and failed. (however it only happened on a few machines...) My advice, just install it as well as 8.1.2, NOT as an upgrade. Mark
Michael Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 The patch does require Adobe Reader 8.1.2 installed otherwise it will fail. Alternatively, look at Adobe Reader 9. I have deployed this now and it works just as good.

Did anyone ever manage to roll the file extension settings for FoxIt into a transform file so it can be deployed with active directory?
