Hoping someone can help on this issue.

We seem to have started getting a strange issue with Delegated Access to new mailboxes on Google Workspace. We have recently set up a finance@ email address which will work as a Service / Shared mailbox.

If we log into the mailbox as finance@ we can view the attachments without any issues however if we access the finance@ mailbox with an account with delegated access, the delegated user cannot view the attachments which i find very strange as we have never had this issue before in the past.

Here are the errors we get:

I have tried creating new mailboxes since creating the finance@ email address and these do the same.

I've seen this too. I expect it's because user 1 has delegate access to finance@ account. Email is sent to finance@ and therefor the permissions of that email/attachment are for finance@ to open but it's actually user 1 who is accessing it.

I have a similar problem running school cover. I have delegate access to cover@ and staff share their work with that but when I try and open the work it errors. The workaround for this is I ask staff to change the permissions to 'anyone in this organisation' before sharing.

For me, I think it turned out to be a Spam, phishing and malware rule that was causing the issue.

Hi @timbo343 - We are experiencing the exact same issue - do you mind outlining exactly what it was you changed in the spam / phishing rule to resolve this?

Thanks

I'll have a look to see which setting it was that was causing the issue. Off the top of my head i think i tried disabling a fee and suddenly it worked.

Ok, I have a feeling it's under: Admin > Gmail > Spam, Phishing and Malware. Drill down to the OU where you want to apply this setting.

Under the SPAM section i had custom settings in there that were too tightly configured. Now i have the following set...

Hope this helps and hope these were the right settings.
