Our Head of English would like to take a copy of the department's Shared Drive and work on it within their own My Drive and once happy, upload it in place of the Shared Drive. They do not want to work on the live version of the shared which I fully understand and support.

What's the best way to take a copy of this folder and drop into their Drive? Looks like RClone might be an option but I'm slightly unsure about the parameters required. Has anyone else done this before?

edit - I have tried to download as zip and then offer to upload to their Drive but the folder structure means the paths are too long. Plus, Google Docs download as Word which can cause more problems once uploaded again.

That completely breaks the purpose and functionality.

If they want to keep previous versions of files, they should use the Version Controls.

Agreed.

But, given who it is and the backstory behind this request I'm happy to look at options for them. It's not specifically the files, but folders and structures that need changing.
