Looking to purchase surround sound equipment for our boardroom.

Hello,We have a Viewsonic Viewboard (IFP-8650-3A) a mitel phone system (IP485G), an Aver Camera (TR530) a Windows laptop. When we use Google Meets, participants have a hard time hearing others in the room. The people in the room have a hard time hearing participants. We tried a Polycom unit, using the mitel system speaker, the mic and speakers on the laptop, etc and it's just not working the way we want.Our goal is to use Google Meets and have the sound go through the entire room with small mics on the desks so our board members can talk and others online can hear them clearly. We would also like the mics we place on the desk to go into our Aver Camera System so people online can hear them clearly. There are ports on the back of the Aver cameras that are labeled 3D-SGI 2, 3GSDI-1, LINE IN, RS232 if that helps.We currently have a Polycom unit and a Polycom Sound Station 2 for placing these closer on the desks but if we use Google meets no one can hear them clearly and it's just becoming a big pain. If I'm not explaining everything correctly please let me know. I'm very new to this. Also what system do you guys recommend using? Our Budget is pretty good on this say $2,000- $5,000

Not sure if it helps at all and it might be a suggestion that gets you by temporarily or as a backup but we have been using usb Jabra conference speakers which have been extremely useful and performed well, they can even be daisy chained to support large rooms they have worked great in large classrooms for remote teaching and appear to support a lot more users than they specify.

Hi, how many people does your boardroom sit?

 

There's a whole host of solutions here, but unless you rethink your approach it's going to cost a fair bit more. Individual mics will require auto-mixing as well as potentially needing AEC so a DSP of some kind may be necessary. Audio (not surround sound as the thread title suggests) totally depends on the room.

 

Really recommend going to an AV integrator for this as they'll know the best solution for you.
