Intune - Student shared devices policy application

We are a nearly fully cloud school using O365. We have 1:1 devices throughout but need to maintain a few IT rooms for fixed IT for some software/lessons.

The students have iPads KS3 and Chromebooks KS4. So we need Access, 2D design, Adobe etc

 

The IT rooms are the last piece of the puzzle. I spent the week before last getting everything we need packaged and have set policies to the point where I'm happy.

I have used the user based options for settings where available and pushed it to users accounts. I have 2 issues

 

1 - A decent amount of these polices apply on first log in but a decent amount don't apply until the student logs off and on again. Probably not a massive issue as the students sit at the same machines each lesson. Anyway i can get around this?

 

2 - second issue is the speed the policies apply on first login. There's a delay of up to maybe 10 minutes in the worst cases, 3 - 5 minutes if its behaving to just get the policies to apply. Wondering if there was a way around this also. Maybe a powershell script to force the device to sync
