We have moderate youtube restrictions for staff members here and no access for students.

As IT admins we have unrestricted access......

We can you this video but staff can't.......

Its a "live" Video for 2nd March. IT admins can get to the set reminder page, staff get a block page.

Are Live videos blocked on youtubes "Moderate" filtering mode? Can't seem to find anything that's documented....... Both the channel and video are "Viewable"

I must admit I rarely enable any of the Youtube restricted modes in new setups and rely on the content filtering in Smoothwall instead of the Youtube modes. Both moderate and restricted are giving results that doesn't make sense at times. With HTTPS inspection on for Youtube the content filtering in Guardian is easier to control and is consistent with your overall filter policies.

We're on 'Moderate restricted' and the video shows as being watchable in our domain. I don't know if that approval was automatic or actioned by one of our staff members.

What do you have your staff OU set at in "Admin > Account > Account settings > Age-based access settings"? That will be a factor in the availability of YouTube content for them.

Also, review your settings at "Apps > Additional Google services > Settings for YouTube > Content settings" to make sure that your staff are able to approve videos if needed.

Yeah i've checked all of this which is why i'm confused...... i think its because its a "Live" video.

Are you able to see the video on a staff based account or do you get a block page? Reason i ask, the video is also displayed as watable here also (if viewed on my admin account).

I guess the issues lays with that its a "live" video..... and i think that is strictly filtered.

Thanks for the response.

Definitely something funky going on...

We have our LGfL filtering and Google set to Strict restricted YouTube access, but with certain users able to approve.

Although I can see the 'Set Reminder' landing page when logged in (and get a restricted page when not), there is also no button underneath for me to approve - because it says it is watchable in our domain...

We've observed the same thing.......

Possibly because 'Live' video is not yet 'Live'...?

You may only get the button to approve when the video starts... but if not it's too late then! I can't seem to find any more information on whether 'live' videos are filtered differently though.

Maybe see if you can find a 'live' video and try?

'Live' cannot be guaranteed on content, therefore requires Open Mode as far as I am aware. I did a fair amount of testing a while back to determine what we needed and when. I'll happily retest when I return to work however to make sure we give the right info to LGfL customers!

What are you asking then?

I still have an 'Approve' button for general videos that haven't been approved...

For example any of 'Toyah & Robert's Sunday Lunch' such as:

NSFW!

But videos that haven't streamed yet there is still no button on this one (as it says it's watchable):

Yet there is a button on this one:

Edit: Not sure they are 'live' videos though (I think maybe just pre-recorded)?...

I currently have no "Approve" Button or the watchable by all users text.

I'm trying to figure out where the issue is.

How is your Youtube restricted?

We have LGfL (default strict restricted I think for anything not logged in to Google) and then Google (obviously once logged in) for different levels/approvals.

OK, not sure why that is if there have been no changes to any of those things...

When you are on YouTube and signed in to Google do you get this at the bottom of the list when you click on your initials?

Edit: Also have you checked all your Google settings are still as they should be?

If you are on the right network, your GPOs have applied, you are signed into Google with the correct account and the correct settings (set to approve with approvers) are in Google for those accounts then I can't see why...
