[ltsb, 1507] Win10 Upgrade

Hi Guys ,

We have one last PC running 1507:scared: ,which hasn't been updated as the PC has some niche software/drivers and doing a reimage to upgrade would be a huge hindrance to get it all back to what it was,

just wondering if anyone knows how to update windows 10 LTSB 1507 to a newer version of windows and still be able to keep the files and apps.

Currently when I try running any windows setup, be it 1607,1809,1903,1909, 20h2 but cannot keep files and apps 'because you are installing an edition of windows that's different than the one' have tried running windows updates and selecting the updates from microsoft however never pulls down the 1909 update. Does anyone know a way of doing an in place update and keeping the files and apps

I'm not sure about the upgrade path from 1507 LTSB to a different flavour or if you have to keep to a Long-Term version...

 

I don't think the Long-Term version can do upgrades via an update, it must be an in-place upgrade.

 

A while ago I did a few from 1607 LTSB > 1809 LTSC (choosing to keep 'files and programs') and they've completed OK.

 

For mine I just expanded the 1809 LTSC ISO onto a USB and whilst the 1607 LTSB computer was up and running navigated to the USB, double clicked the set-up program and followed the prompts.

"You can upgrade from Windows 10 LTSC to Windows 10 General Availability Channel, provided that you upgrade to the same or a newer build version. For example, Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB can be upgraded to Windows 10 Enterprise version 1607 or later. Upgrade is supported using the in-place upgrade process (using Windows setup). You will need to use the Product Key switch if you want to keep your apps. If you don't use the switch, the option Keep personal files and apps option is grayed out. The command line would be setup.exe /pkey xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx, using your relevant Windows 10 SAC product key. For example, if using a KMS, the command line would be setup.exe /pkey NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43."

So you can 'upgrade' to a SAC version from an LT.

 

I have just kept to LT versions for now...

 

Am I right in thinking you have 3 more years of extended support for 1507 LTSB (2015) though?
