How is our AD synced with sims?

While I wait for help from ESS any ideas? Our AD creates accounts for new pupils going on roll, but I don’t know how it gets the info. Is there any particular way to find out? I don’t think we use sims ID but can’t log on to it anyway (I can login to admin.sims using single sign in (we use Gsuite) but not the sts or id.sims site).

You'd have the software installed on the server if it's creating them, they'd be called the provisioning and passwordsync parts of it (in normal program files etc)

Hi, how do know if I have already SIMS ID? Cant' get any answer from ess. I think SIMS ID would sync sims to our AD? And is it a paid-for service. I asked them "How does SIMS sync with Active Directory?" They replied

 

"The active directory provisioning service is something that we no longer support. Now, this information is pulled from SIMS via SIMS ID. Is this something you would be interested in?"

Look at your security event logs on the domain controllers to see what account and ip were used to create the accounts. You can then track your way back to what process/service is doing it.

 

AD security events are recorded on the the DC that tried to execute the request, so you might not see them on the first one you look at.
