RAM modules on imac

I have 2017 27” mac , currently I have 2x8mb and 2x4mb ram cards installed.I have bought 2x16mb cards to replace the 4’s with so I have 48mb ram installed.

Does it matter which cards go where in the slots ?

Firstly, I'm hoping you mean GB or you're about to have a bad time!

 

Secondly, a general rule of thumb with RAM is not to mix sizes. Ideally all the same size, speed etc. In theory yours should work (Depending on if you brought the right RAM) it might just not be overly happy with it and run at slower speeds or not the full amount.
