Guest access to sharepoint

A guest user to Sharepoint is getting myapplications.microsoft.com page that states that This is unavailable due to you account permissions and company's settings.

Is the user part of the sharepoint security group? Does the user have a sharepoint license? It could be the sharepoint admin is not setup for external sharing

Do guests need a SharePoint license to access Teams/SharePoint resources as a guest?

 

I'm looking at setting up M365 for a small non-profit. We were trying to work out the minimum number of subscriptions to buy and in testing I invited various people to access my Teams/SharePoint and it all worked fine. Thinking about it, given what most of the users do for a living, they probably all have M365 amounts through work, so I haven't proved that #anyone# can access the resources.

Hi jmak, yes they would if it is more that document sharing/editing and basic collaboration. Remember the 365 organization permission and sharepoint site permissions can be set differently which I think is what happening with the original question

 

If non-profit You can contact Microsoft and get a substantial discount on the Standard licensing - the web based is free I think. If you invited people on your teams/sharpoint and all was good then your Org setting are fully open to external sharing (security issues) but still limited - unless they have 365. You can confirm if they are on at least a MS platform my their email address smtp check
