USB C Hub with USB 3 Adapter Functionality

Was thinking about replacing my USB 3 SD/Micro SD adapter and USB 3 hub/ethernet adapter with a nice new USB C one for future-proofing, but most of our devices are not "C" yet.

 

Has anyone used something like this with a C to standard adapter and, if so, did data transfer and the network connection work - and could you PXE boot?

I've seen some that include the adapter, so you'd imagine they work fine, not tried one for pxe boot though.

for giggles I tried a usb-c to usb-a adaptor on our HP G5 Docking stations. Nothing worked at all.
