Zioxi Trolley USB C Cable Recommendations

Hi there,

I have purchased my first 32 bay Zioxi (CHRGTUC -CB-32-C) trolley for our Chromebooks. Seems a really nice trolley but I am struggling to find affordable but good quality USB C cables.

 

Our trolley has 8 power boxes inside with 5 USB A or USB C connectors per box.

I am assuming the power boxes will take either a USB A or USB C connector and not both or we would have 40 connections.

 

We can either go for 32 x USB A to USB C (for Chromebook end)

Or 32 x USB C to USB C connectors.

 

I have had a measure up and I think that 0.5m would be the perfect length.

Not too fussed if the cables are more money but will actually last.

Can anyone recommend the best place to get 50cm USB A to USBC or USB C to USB C cables?

I can't zoom in far enough but they all look like USB A sockets in there...

I was recently looking for a trolley (actually for iPads) but I saw that one and (my bold):

I noted this (my bold):

So I was under the impression they generally came with power leads for the devices!

EDIT: I was trying to find out what the charging situation is with trolleys these days as our LockNCharge actually have what just look like extension cables in the bottom (so you just plug in your devices plug and power cable), but our older Ergotron ones have USB A sockets (no good for our newer iPads).

And YES!! I was under the exact same impression as you, however it came with no USB C leads. I contacted supplier, he said no worries, I will get something arranged, I got a replacement config kit in the post which just has the plastic grommets which hold the cables in place but not the actual cables so it seems not or maybe there is an option for pre-cabled and not cabled and for some reason, I have got the latter choice?!

Either way, it is a nice unit, very compact and well built. It has USB A as you rightly mentioned but also USB C on each of the charging blocks. So each block of which there are 8 has 5 USB A and 5 USB C plugs for charging. And yes, that is my picture.

A quick heads-up about the trolley

 

Check whether or not it has a moulded plug on the mains cable. Ours didn't and the wires came loose as a result of people trying to move the trolley while it was still plugged in. One member of staff got a belt from it when she plugged it in.

Thanks for the warning, I will certainly take care when plugging it in!

Just to clarify, our supplier has got back to me to say that the trolley does not come with charge leads. It is assumed you use the ones which come with the Chromebooks. This is not helpful as they have 3pin plugs on the end not USB A or USB C! I have had to order 31 USB C to C 0.5m cables!

As our trolleys are quite large and on various floors they don't get moved, children from other classes have to get the devices out and take them back to their class (which gives me nightmares) luckily the LockNCharge trolleys have baskets that carry 5 devices each (but we are talking iPads here not Chromebooks).

 

In fact they are chained to the wall for security (not sure anyone would actually be able to get them down/up the stairs and out of the building), but it also stops them being pulled out and hurting a child or damaging the electrical cord/plug.

 

It may be worth checking the supplier again (or at least their webpage listing for the item) the one I linked definitely states cables included, but I can't seem to find many others that say the same.
