No Display when running on battery

Asus X555LA Laptop - wins 10

 

Battery Only - Press ON button - nothing - not even logo

 

Then plug in power - up comes the image of the OS loading (after I pressed the ON button earlier)

 

Screen works fine while power connected - take out power - screen goes off, but windows still runs in the background

 

Battery 100%

Just noticed that if I shine a light on the screen while in battery power, then I can see Windows in the background....

 

External VGA monitor also picks it up on battery power ok

Asus logo/Post/Bios does not appear when on battery, but windows is loading in background

Okay, that suggests a hardware issue with the screen or the backlight driver hardware. Possibly due to voltage control, maybe weaker battery output. Can you swap another screen in from a similar model as a test?

Just tried another screen and lo and behold, it displays Asus logo on startup while on battery....

 

Screen at fault...... and not windows
