Saadi_y Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 Hi all Hope you are ok. Can you please tell me from where you buy your IT consumables. We used to buy from Amazon but I am asked to look for new vendors. Thanks in advance
Cat_Jam148 Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Here are my general go to suppliers: CBC Computers AMC IT Very PC CCS Media 1
Chaniel Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 What are you defining as an IT Consumable..? For general goods; Amazon CPC CCS Media LambaTek has been good for odd bits and bobs (laptop spares etc.) Laptopsandspares has also been the same.
simpsonj Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Millgate are good for consumables, and pretty much anything IT related.
RLR Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 We mainly use AMC IT A few things are purchased from an Amazon Business account.
Rob_D Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 After the meeting where we were told how much of a pain amazon orders are for finance, I stick to... CSS (our rep is very good at finding odd things like right angle staplers and Mindstorms extension cables) SoftCat (get them to set you up with an ECat account then you can put together orders on their online shop and save them as quotes to go to your FO. I think you can even set it up so you can submit the order on ECat and the FO gets prompted to authorize it) YPO Great for stationary and reprographics supplies, and recently discovered they do a reasonable line in "office IT" gear like USB cables, removable storage, ect.
DGardiner Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 how do you people deal with CCS? Theyre harassment level suppliers, can ask about a paperclip without been hounded every day for weeks.... as for amazon, if your school sets up a business account i think finance can lock you to suppliers who comply with the vat rules so they can always claim it back

But since I wound up speaking to our rep's manager and suggested he was maybe a bit too talkative things have calmed down to about 1 phone call per order + the "I haven't heard from you in about 6 months" check-in. The problem our SBM has with amazon (we had a half hour meeting where they talked about it in great detail) is the business invoicing is apparently terrible. Even if you manage to get everything amazon fulfilled (the chance would be a fine thing), FO still apparently gets a separate invoice for each item, so an amazon order is way more work for the FO than from somewhere like CCS/softcat that does full quote>PO>invoice ordering.

I ask for a quote, I get a quote, I order. I don't think my account manager has ever "hounded" me, the only marketing email I've had was during peak covid when they had stock of hand sanitiser etc. and no one else did
