Mrluckhurst Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 Hi, We have helpfully informed by our vendor that our 4 year old ruckus R510 access points will stop being configured/managed by our zone controller (cloud system bought through them rather than an onsite one) in 2023. Only finding out about this now rather than when we purchased the system is a bit of a pain but that is another story. Given that the system is fine for our needs now and projected needs in the future there is no budget to replace it. On reading it seems as if the APs can have the firmware upgraded and be configured to run in 'unleashed' mode - standalone aps Has anyone done this or have experience of it in a school environment. We are currently running 20 APs. If not, is there another way out of this dilemma? Thanks
Net-Ctrl Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 (edited) Hi there - did you purchase a ZoneDirector 3000, Ruckus Cloud or a virtual SmartZone? The Ruckus Cloud and virtual SmartZone will continue to support your R510s - it is only the ZD3k that is going EOL in 2023 - this is was announced 3 years ago (2018) and forms its 5 year EOL cycle with Ruckus. APs can be flashed to Unleashed mode - we, or your incumbent can assist with this. A new Unleashed support agreement can be purchased to continue support following this.
