Chromebook - Save to OneDrive in Chrome

Is there a way to allow users to save files to OneDrive in the Chrome broswer when using a Chromebook?

 

I've installed the OneDrive app and pinned it to the taskbar. I can see OneDrive in the files app, it lists as read-only.

I've changed the download setting to ask where to download the file.

 

When i download anything the download to box appears, I can only see my files and the google drive. No OneDrive.

If there is an answer to this, I'm all ears!

 

The best I've found is to install the Filesystem for Onedrive Web Extension and log into that. This then mounts the Onedrive as viewable and editable in Files. You can then drag and drop files from your Downloads (file size limit is 4mb apparently) into your Onedrive. Transferring from Google Drive to Onedrive through Files didn't seem to work too well though and it doesn't allow you to download directly from Chrome into Onedrive.

 

It's too flaky for me to roll out to students, but I can't see any other options out there.

Basically at the moment its for them to download to google drive and upload to their OneDrive in office.com if they want to. We're advising when they use teams that they need to copy and save in a new location rather than trying to download.

Its unfortunately down to MS improving their OneDrive App for the CB. I can't get the Firesystem for OneDrive thing to work at all here. I don't think our filtering likes it

It's an absolute PITA.

 

At the moment, if a file is shared with a student either via SMHW or Onenote, they have to download the file into Google Drive. Then they have to open up files, put that to one side of the screen, open up Onedrive in Chrome and put it on the other side of the screen, copy the file over, then open the file. If they just download it and double click it, it opens in Google Office viewer, or they end up editing the file in Google drive and converting it to a Google Document.

 

It's such a shame, as it's so close to being exactly as wanted!

Just a small change so the onedrive app can be writable rather than read-only and it would show in the downloads as a pinned drive.

 

Google have this summer added in a setting to default set the option to prompt where to save a file when downloading a file which has helped.
