Hi All,

Got a bit of an odd one. We are currently using free PBX as our phone system at a MAT. When we change the Display Name on an extension that pulls through fine, setting changes etc all fine. When we try to setup a new extension the phone doesn’t pull down that information. It sits with “No Service” and uses the cached extension number.

I’ve tried factory resetting it with no luck just sits blank with “No Service”. Everything else is working fine, ring groups external calls settings changes but for whatever reason I can’t create a new extension for a phone.

It’s created all correctly on the Free PBX Server, phone picks up an IP Address fine within the correct range but just doesn’t pull down the information. I can connect to the phones WebUI fine and I can ping the IP Address of the phone on the PBX Server so it can see it.

Support is just charging me 15 credits for a reply each time asking basic questions and will be becoming very expensive for support. Anyone have any ideas to look at? Ports are all open etc for PBX as nothing has changed and not sure exactly when it stopped working as we’ve only just required a phone extension change.

Any support/advice would bd hugely appreciated!

What model phone is it?

Have you checked the phones IP address isn't blacklisted? This can happen if a phone is plugged in for a deleted extension. The PBX blacklist the IP due to the amount of authentication failures. Off top of my head they are located here: Admin > System Admin > Intrusion Detection

Have you tried setting the phone up manually? Usually you just need to put the proxy address in which is the IP of the PBX, User ID and AUTH ID both of which is the extension number, and the secret.

As FN-GM says it could be Fail2Ban blocking the IP of the phone if it isn't authenticating properly.
