bald_pig Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Registered, hopefully the beer turns up this time! 1
bald_pig Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Pies have just arrived, hopefully the rest arrives before tomorrow!
TechMonkey Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 I may have missed something but how does this run? Do we need to get them cooked before hand or are we walked through? I've also though, first world problems I know but, do we end up drinking all 5 pints through the evening? @Chanelle_Securly
Chanelle_Securly Posted October 13, 2021 Author Posted October 13, 2021 @TechMonkey I've just sent an email with instructions! and yes, usually all pint's are consumed but we'll leave this totally up to you to avoid any sore heads in the morning 1
StevieM Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 @TechMonkey - You can drink as much or as little as you want, tonight. It all depends on whether you can work from home tomorrow. The pies have been pre-cooked but it takes about 25 minutes to heat them through, IIRC. Unless you're planning to eat all of them tonight, I'd select 2 or 3, stick them in the oven so they'll be ready to go. @Chanelle_Securly has already asked James about a running order so, hopefully, he'll let us know at the beginning. My beers arrived yesterday, while I was working from home. Later, I got an email to say that the driver with my pies had been delayed but they should arrive by 3pm. They didn't. I've just had another email to say they were delivered at 12.07 today and were left 'in my front porch', which I don't have, so I'm assuming they mean 'on the doorstep'. The proof of delivery photo was taken from about 50m away and shows about 4 houses in it. They would have been frozen when they left the pie-maker's yesterday; I just hope they've not been stored anywhere warm overnight. But I have beer!! 1
TechMonkey Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 Thank you both. In my head as it was a guided tasting we were gobbling all pies and all beers. I was up for the challenge, though fully expecting tomorrow to be tricky.
bald_pig Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 My beer arrived this morning, but I'm now working until 6, so having pies ready at 5:40 will be a challenge!
Chanelle_Securly Posted October 13, 2021 Author Posted October 13, 2021 The order of play will be: Cauliflower Balti (vegan) - Lukas/Jaipur Steak, green peppercorns and rosemary - Jaipur Chicken, mushroom and spinach - GM Butternut squash, fennel and goats cheese (ve) - GM/Allott Salted caramel brownie - Cocoa Wonderland
StevieM Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Thanks, everyone at Securly and 'geeks in attendance, for an entertaining evening of beer, pies and chat. Thanks, also, to James Kellow. Sommelier later! 1
TechMonkey Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Yes, thank you all. Was really good, informative and jolly tasty!
CJF Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Sommelier later! I had a great time too, nice to catch up with you all and James is always entertaining too! Here's the pies for those that missed out this time:
