Cover issues in SIMS

We have two major issues in cover currently

 

Issue 1

 

When a staff absence is recorded in the SAM software, it correctly transfers into SIMS personnel. The absences are not always transferring properly into Cover. The person will be on cover with no blue band over the top displaying the times absent, so cover cannot be allocated to the lessons. This is the case for some absences but not all and there doesn’t seem to be a pattern

 

Issue 2

 

We have changed the times of the school day. It now runs 0830 till 1555 rather than 0850 till 1520. The times that staff are available for cover have not changed. Is there a way of changing this globally for all staff. We have changed the definition of all day in Tools-Cover-Manage Organisations. That doesn’t seem to have gone through to all staff.

 

Anyone got any ideas?

We are having the same issues with SAM. The blue band occurs when the times aren't entered, just the date. If you then make any amendments to any absence in SAM, it doesn't transfer to SIMS. Only new absences transfer. We are waiting for a solution from SAM - now been going on for weeks. Wonde have checked at their end and data is being transferred but SAM don't know why it's not writing back.

Just to let you know the latest, which seems to line up with what was said above. SAM have said it is a SIMS issue so we are working with ESS to see if they can fix it. Text of the email sent by HR following their call.

 

I had a remote session yesterday afternoon with sims support and ESS.

"We have discovered that:

An absence entered into SAM with timings of 0:00 to 0:00 (one day) – the absence will show but the absence line and lessons to cover will not appear in Cover

An absence entered directly into sims will show the absence, absence line and the lessons to Cover.

An absence entered into SAM with the day start amended to 08:00 and finish 16:00 will show in Cover with the absence line and lessons to cover.

So … it appears to be an issue between SAM and sims with the start and finish time of the day?? ESS has escalated this and will come back to us.

This morning, I entered the absences into SAM with 8am start and 4pm finish and all displaying correctly"
