[sims] Design Report help - where item has more than 1 record

I don’t like the reports cos they often seem crazily confusing when trying to get out what you want. In this case I want to get out student Medical Conditions > Description. But some students have more than 1 medical condition. So when I output the report (as a word mailmerge) it only has the 1st condition. How do I get out the 2nd and 3rd conditions?

 

If I add the blue Medical Conditions box again, it just outputs the same item. If I untick the stupid little ‘Display first record only’ on the select data fields page then it wants to output it as 3 complete outputs (if the child has 3 medical conditions). I just want Eg Child A, Hayfever, Eczema, Asthma

This sounds like it needs an RTF style report.

The guide for creating these reports used to be pretty good.

From memory, I think you put a tag to show the start row as a row in a table and additional entries will populate down without repetition.

 

It will either work directly or require a sub-report. Somewhere in here is a thread where i shared a complex data review sheet which called 4 sub-reports to extract and list parent1-emails, parent1-phonenumbers, parent2-emails, parent2-phonenumbers, but you should be able to get what you want with a simple table I think.

 

Bear in mind my knowledge is pretty out of date, so I'm going back around 9 or 10 years here, but the software can't have changed that much!

I don't have access to SIMS any more, however when you add the medical conditions box, you should be able to apply a filter to it so that you can select the record id number, so add 3 fields and then apply the filter so that the first one displays record 1, 2nd 2 and so on.
