titch Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Sorry, this is sort of a double post as I messaged in the Promethean direct forum as well but that doesn't seem to show up in the "what's new" section and so, therefore, nobody will see it and I might not get any community responses. Any help on any of the below is appreciated. All the boards are latest titanuim models. Thanks in advance Q1: Locked out We stupidly exported a config from one board and then and selected the button the removes the admin settings on import. We've now imported the config on another board but obviously, cant now get to any settings. We cant override the config with a new config because we can't get to the settings.................. Is there a way we can factory reset this thing? Also, we tried mashing some boot buttons on the screen and it came up with this boot menu. What is it? Q2:OPS VS in built Our boards have come with an Android OPS as well as the inbuilt android on the panel. Can anyone advise if there are any disadvantages of using one or the other? If I'm honest the OPS seems faster especially wen screen mirroring but the inbuilt android seems a bit clicker to use as all the features are part of the panel. I don't want to confuse staff and would prefer to use one or another. Any opinions are welcome. Q3: Can you change the names of sources on the panel? Possible? Q4: MDM Is there an MDM that can manage more settings or install apps remotely don't the inbuilt panel software? The admin app tat comes with the devices leaves a lot to be desired and I wondered if any normal MDM would happily work on the devices?
pugrick_31 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Hopefully this will help you out a bit. Q1 - you should be able to completely reset the firmware by downloading the firmware file from Promethean support and flashing it directly. I believe you need to contact them to get them to send you the correct firmware file. This video guide should help - Q2 - Our staff sort of decide on their own which they would rather use. All of ours are wired in via HDMI and USB directly to the board rather than using Screen Share but we have noticed some issues with flickering and not connecting at all randomly. Normally using the OPS would resolve it which is when we found it to be more useful as you could annotate a lot quicker and easier on the OPS directly. However we have a mix of old V5 boards and the newer Cobalt variant. The newer models have the ability to annotate on any input along with a lot more features that the OPS use to have on their own. I would honestly let some staff have a look at both and try using both to see which they prefer. Q3 - I don't think it would be possible, but then again never tried to do it. Q4 - Again, we haven't looked at remote management for the boards we have but I would guess that the OPS could be managed via an MDM. I don't think the version of Android on the board itself would let you but if you can then I wouldn't see why not. Only thing to bear in mind is that both the board and the OPS would probably need the Google play service and store to be installed as they don't have it out of the factory. Obviously depending on what MDM you use. Hope this helps! 1
norfolkngood Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 In answer to the Q2 The Ops and built in android should be paired together at the installation stage. There is usually a OTA upgrade on the panel and then also 1 for the OPS android. Once these are completed then the panels can be paired Via the WIFI. This then makes all the OPS apps appear in the locker This is one of the reasons for an accredited installation partner Thanks Ian 1

If for example, the screens are app is on both the built in screens android and the ops how does it know which to use? Thanks
norfolkngood Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 https://support.prometheanworld.com/s/article/1755?language=en_US It might help but the installers should have done this when commissioning 1
titch Posted January 26, 2022 Author Posted January 26, 2022 Cheers for that. Much appreciated. What's the advantage the advantage of the OPS over the inbuilt panel hardware? I'm super confused with it Should I then use the MDM on the ops or built into device? If you've got the same app on the OPS as you do on the panel which one takes presadence? Really hoping the screen share works better this way as it's flaky at best currently
norfolkngood Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 It basically adds all the apps from the OPS Android in to the locker so the OPS is no longer a source I have no idea why they did this. We are an installation company and I have been on the accreditation but no one could explain any benefit of doing it this way Where are you based
titch Posted January 27, 2022 Author Posted January 27, 2022 Thanks again. South coast location. For ease I can see why it's better to have everything on one place but I'm still confused uf my android box ops is better than the inbuilt display android. Should I now be installing stuff to the ops or display? have to say the whole Promethean model seems a little disjointed.I don't love having old unsupported versions of Android sat on my network to be honest.
