Hello

I was wondering if anyone else manages Chrome via GPO in their schools?

We were running v91.0.4472.77 and have tried to roll out the latest version yesterday via GPO (as we have always done). The latest version is v92.0.4515.107 but this hangs for upto an hour when PCs are rebooted.

I found this on Spiceworks but no fix for the issue yet as such: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2325815-chrome-install-via-gpo-hanging-for-30-minutes?utm_campaign=item&utm_medium=rss&utm_source=new_discussions

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks

We're on .4515 deployed and maintained by PDQ but not seen the issues you're reporting.

Thanks for the quick reply. If I go back a version it installs in a matter of seconds as expected. It is all very strange!

Yes I’ve seen this too so disabled the gpo temporarily. The school is closed with only a few admin staff in so I ran a manual update on those machines.

I’m sure there will be a another update released before the school opens so not too worried about missing this one.

Just to update those of you that had the same problem as me @robyholmes and @Jobos

Today I have deployed v92.0.4515.131 and all is well again here.

I'm sad to say the latest version is still not installing for us as I tested on 3 machines and they are all showing the spinning wheel and been like that for 10 minutes.

The chromium forum shows others are still having problems too.
